Vutiarkona Bazar Jame Mosque
Vutiarkona Bazar Jame Mosque is envisioned as a community-centered "mosque for all", integrating spirituality, climate responsiveness, and social inclusivity. The five-storey circular prayer hall forms the sacred core of the design, its geometry shaped by climate, orientation, and maximum occupancy needs. Surrounding this core, the ground and first floors act as extended prayer areas—accommodating Friday congregation overflow. When not in use for prayer, these shaded spaces remain open for villagers to rest, converse, or seek refuge from the sun. The design employs locally sourced brick and customized perforated cement blocks with angular openings—wide at the exterior and narrow inside—to channel cool air inward, ensuring passive ventilation and diffused natural light. This system minimizes mechanical dependence while creating a calm, comfortable interior environment. A Krishnochura tree rises beside the main entry, offering shade and a symbolic link between nature and faith. At the front, lush flower beds, a reflective water reservoir, and an ablution zone together create a serene forecourt that enriches the spiritual and sensory purification. With calligraphy-engraved walls, Islamic motifs, and shops sustaining its upkeep, the mosque becomes more than a prayer space—it stands as a living civic landmark, harmonizing faith, function, and environment for the village.
